Back to school time can be both exciting and stressful for students and parents alike. Getting ready for the first day of classes is a family effort. Here are some things you can do to help your children prepare for the upcoming school year.
1. Get together to prepare clothes and supplies for the new school year
Preparing a new school year together will help kids open themselves up to their parents and also help kids get the excited feeling and feel prepared for the upcoming year. But, before you head out to the store, you and your kids should check around for clothes and supplies like pencils, pens, erasers, folders, notebooks, which may be able to reuse. Let your kids choose some clothing that they want, such as a cute smocked back to school clothes. They shall feel excited when dressing it.
2. Adjust timetable
During the summer, children aren’t always on a schedule. But, proper rest is essential for a healthy and productive school year. A week or two before school, parents should start preparing their children for the upcoming transitions by starting school routines, such as a proper bed time. Begin waking them up a little earlier each day and making them go to sleep a little earlier each night. This way won’t be such a shock coming to the first day of school, and it hopefully won’t be difficult for them to fall asleep the night before.
3. Talk to your baby
In each story between mother and children, mummy can deftly insert the theme of school, teachers, and friends. Mom can also invite her to see an animated film with related content. Do not forget to let your baby talk about school, teacher, how they feel when the summer comes to end. In this way, you can also understand what your baby is worrying about, and then find some gentle ways to persuade.
4. Go to centers that offer a variety of educational recreational activities
Another reason why children are afraid going to school is a long time only with family, they feel comfortable and safe that the family brings. This makes it difficult for children to contact friends in others environment. To solve this problem, you can help them out, meet more people and have the opportunity to participate in group activities to get acquainted.
5. Communicate with teachers and the school
Contact your child’s teachers at the start of the school year. Get acquainted with them and let them know you want to be an active partner in helping your student to learn and grow. Plan to keep track of your child’s subjects, homework, activities, and progress throughout the school.
Working together, parents and children can help make sure the new school year is filled with progress, achievement and the wonder of learning. Let’s make our children feel excited when back to school.
